Divine Authorship, Divine Guidance

Recreate your life by hearing your personal divine messages...

Some people feel their destiny is carved in stone. I believe that we create our lives much like an ongoing exercise in creative writing. Where it is always possible to cease building one storyline that we have been using to illustrate our lives, open a new page and start a fresh story. In fact, the Universe itself does this, continually reinventing itself, every moment of every day. And thus setting up a storyline with infinite possiilites for the next moment to come.

I call this eternal and ongoing process as divine authorship. In the original definition of the phrase, divine authorship referred to spiritual or religious books - writings or other communications, that came either directly from God such as the Ten Commandments or the handwriting on the wall in the Christian religion. Or are works inspired directly from such communications such as the Koran of Islam, which Muslims hold to be Mohammad's direct transcription of his visions from Allah. But through an extension of that thought, it becomes obvious that the Universe, and everything in it, is a direct result of this divine writing of the Word. And that we have been gifted with the slightest spark of the divine ability to create, and have a hand in this story-boarding of the Universe.

There are, of course, whole libraries of interwoven threads that make up the totality of divine authorship. Here are the two main aspects that relate to us, specifically, as authors of our own lives:

• What God has written into our personal book of life before our birth:  This is the basic first draft of our story, complete with our initial cast of characters (our birth family), circumstances, gifts and burdens. Although this sets the tone for the story to come, it by no means limits the plotline or prevents change.

  Claim all the good the Universe has in store for you! Develop a closer relationship with the creator within -- recognize and develop your inner spirit. Replace beliefs that are holding you back with empowering ones -- believe in your greatness. Harness the power of the Universe to do your bidding -- you are on earth to create your life as you wish it. Recognize that everything in the Universe is energy and that you can control the flow of “good energy” in your life; you are the engineer. • What we, as children of God perceive through divine guidance - or through lack of it - and choose to add to this rough outline:  We can choose to simply "flesh it out," following along the pre-set path with little deviation from the bare bones. We can choose to add unsavory characters to it, incude scenes of unnecessary strife and use up our page-count following dead-end plots and dissonant sub-themes such as martyrdom and victimhood.

  Or we can write that adventuresome thriller, deciding to go all out, pursuing every possibility and exploring every option fearlessly and with confidence in the original Outliner. Using all our ingenuity aligned with faith we can strive to squeeze every last ounce of potential out of what was originally given to us.

It is through this personal form of divine authorship that it is possible to recreate our lives - to go in whatever new direction we desire. And through our changes, we recreate the world we live in.

Of course, the words to rewrite life comes easier for some than for others. For the unfortunate or the unfocused, life may begin to resemble nothing but a pile of angrily crumpled pages full of false starts, scratch-outs sections and meandering themes. The luckier individuals appear to have just the right words fall into place precisely as their pen glides forward to write them. Each of us, can take the pen and ink firmly in hand, and work at our craft with determination and commitment. Listening to the guidance and love of the Creator and with an intent to follow our highest calling in our hearts, there is literally no limit to the story we can create for ourselves.

When you translate into the afterlife, will your life's tale make the heavenly "best seller" list - an autobiography showing how one person overcame adversity, fear and indifference and made the best use of the gift God generously gave to them? Or will it simply end up as a brochure on the public service racks as a cautionary tale about the tragedy of unlimited potential gone to waste?

Through the gift of divine authorship, we can each seek individual instruction and assistance from the Original Author to rewrite, tweake and polish the manuscript of our lives until we're happy with the results. Although it's final form, the ending of which none of us can foresee, will ultimately be reviewed by the most important, and luckily, the most loving, critic of all. Don't disappoint your readership. Pick up your pen and make something of your life - become yourself!
